"The transformation of a fixture in the Coast's social scene, beautifully done by Watermark Constructions."Sally Smith
The brief
Co-owners Andrew Hohns and John Robertson set about the redesign of what was the Mooloolaba Yacht Club, and in 2018 appointed Watermark Constructions as their builder.
"We'd been aware of the impression Watermark Constructions had been making along the eastern seaboard and jumped at the chance to work with them on this project."
Sixty years of unknowns
Pier 33 presented as an extensive renovation project for the commercial projects team. The 60 year old structure was fraught with unknowns, however the team collaborated closely with the owners and designers to produce an exquisite Hamptons inspired outcome that both showcases the original structure and emulates a level of workmanship that enhances every completed space.
- Three large function spaces
- A 200 seat dining area with alfresco dining
- An expansive lawned area
- Commercial kitchen, office, cold room and amenities
Four weeks to opening
"Watermark Constructions took charge of the venue and it was all hands to the wheel to strip back and fit out the famous Coast venue. It was a major refurbishment with a project timeline of four weeks ahead of the scheduled opening."
The result was recognised by Master Builders Queensland as Best Commercial Fit Out, and Pier 33 remains one of the Sunshine Coast's signature waterfront venues.
